Authorities say an inmate at the Gila County Jail in Globe has died.
County Sheriff’s Officials say jail staff found Jack Arthur Voakes having difficulty breathing at around 11:45pm, Tuesday night. Emergency responders provided medical attention and Voakes was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The 61-year-old Voakes was arrested by Payson police two months ago on a failure to appear warrant.
Records from the sheriff’s office show Voakes was facing charges of DUI, assault/domestic violence, theft, possession of narcotic drugs and false reporting.
