Wind, snow results in no travel on Mount Graham

SAFFORD — Weather is stopping travel on Mount Graham.

On its social media, the Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest announced it is advising no travel on the mountain Wednesday and Thursday due to predictions of heavy snow and strong winds.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Graham County, with wind gusts reaching as high as 55 miles an hour.

Snow accumulation at the higher elevations of Mount Graham is predicted to reach 12 to 18 inches, and snow could accumulate at elevations as low 3,000 feet.

The precipitation and wind are predicted to continue through Wednesday night into Thursday morning, before gradually becoming sunny in the afternoon.
