Willcox Little League Softball headed to World Series

A year after falling one game short, Willcox Little League worked their way back into the West Region tournament with a chance to get a spot the Little League Softball World Series.

This time they didn’t let the opportunity pass them by. With a 5-0 win over Dublin, California, Willcox secured their spot as the West representative in the 12-team World Series in Greenville, North Carolina from August 4th through 11th.

Willcox is led by ace Hattie Macumber, who pitched 4 complete games in the regional tournament and only gave up 3 runs in the four games and all of those came in a 6-3 win over Dublin in the semifinals.

Willcox will face the Mid-Atlantic champion, West Point Little League, from Greensburg, Pennsylvania in the opening round of the World Series on Sunday August 4th at 7am Arizona time on ESPN+.

According to Allsportstucson.com, Willcox is only the 5th Southern Arizona Little League to qualify for a World Series.
