Wildfires near Greenlee-Apache border

GREENLEE COUNTY — Four wildfires are burning near the border of Greenlee and Apache counties, with two on each side.

In Greenlee County, the Clear Cut Tank fire, near Buffalo Crossing Road, was first reported July 16 and remained small until it grew to 20 acres by July 26. It’s currently listed at 128 acres, 0-percent containment and cause has not yet been determined.

Southwest of the Clear Cut Tank fire is the Lookout fire, near Forest Road 25, northeast of Bear Wallow Wilderness. It was first reported July 25, is at 124 acres, 0-percent containment and cause has not yet been determined.

In Apache County, the 294-acre Draw fire is burning in the Wallow fire footprint, near the west fork of the Black River. It was first reported July 24, is at 0-percent containment and cause has not yet been reported.

The Georges Tank fire, on the northern edge of Alpine, was reported just before noon Monday, July 28. It’s currently listed as less than 1 acre.
