Wheelies results in dirt bike crash, hospital visit

GRAHAM COUNTY — A man who crashed his dirt bike doing wheelies found himself in the hospital with injuries to his arms.

Graham County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Swift Trail near South Aiden Lane on Jan. 22, at 5:27 p.m., after the call came in of the rider unresponsive. When deputies arrived, they found the man awake and alert, and bleeding from his forearms and elbows.

The man said he crashed while doing a wheelie on the shoulder of the roadway. Deputies advised the man that the motorcycle was registered as off-road only, and that riding on the shoulder was illegal. Also the bike was not street legal as it did not have a horn, mirror or headlight.

The man’s friends loaded the crashed bike into the bed of a pick-up truck and transported him to the hospital.
