Victim Awareness Day kicks off Victim Awareness Week in Graham County

SAFFORD — The Graham County Attorney’s Office and the Graham County Victim Witness Department teamed with Mt. Graham Safe House to host the third annual Victim Awareness Day of Recognition.

The event Thursday recognized crime victim survivors, as well as informed the public of the challenges that victims face and the resources available to all who are victimized.

The event started with a 10-minute Sexual Abuse Awareness Walk through Safford’s Downtown; followed by a brief program of survivors sharing their stories, speakers on services available to crime and abuse victims; and a balloon release.

The Victim Awareness Day of Recognition kicked off Victim Awareness Week in Graham County, which runs through April 28.

Sponsors for the Victims Awareness Week and Day of Recognition are Walmart, Ice King and Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corporation. Music at the Day of Recognition was provided by DJ Fresh.
