US 191 Drainage Project south of Safford

The Arizona Department of Transportation will complete a project to improve the drainage under US 191 6 miles south of Safford.

Work is scheduled to begin November 6, 2019 and extend into early spring 2020.

During the project, US 191 will be restricted to a single lane in alternating directions using a temporary traffic signal near Ocotilla Street, which is between State Route 366/Swift Trail Junction and Lake Roper State Park. The signal will be in operation for up to three months.

There will be roadway width restrictions, and drivers should expect delays of five minutes or more, especially during peak traffic hours.

Vehicles should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
