SAFFORD — The Graham County Board of Supervisors found themselves dealing with a trio of unbudgeted expenditures Monday, although only one will be paid directly by Graham County taxpayers.

The first came from Sheriff PJ Allred.

“We have learned at the Sheriff’s Office that we are having some issues with our Video Solutions, our software in our interview and interrogation rooms. That’s where all of those are housed whenever we get them (interviews) done, and we don’t have any kind of back-up system for that. So we want to purchase a back-up system,” Allred said.

The purchase of a $5,000 back-up system, using money from the county’s general fund, was approved unanimously.

The other two items, benefitting the county’s Probation Department, will  use money allocated from the Arizona Supreme Court.

The first is a modification of the locking system on a few doors in the building Probation is using. The building is the former juvenile detention facility and the doors currently lock automatically, delaying and preventing probation employees from accessing some parts of the building.

The other item was the replacement of 18 ballistic vest used by Probation officers in the field.

Both requests were unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors.

Cost to modify the locking system is $14,749.75, and the cost for the vests is $19,327.24.
