SUPERIOR — Gila Valley residents driving to the Phoenix area will encounter lane closures and delays on U.S. Highway 60, between Miami and Superior, on Thursday, July 22, for guardrail replacement near the Pinto Creek Bridge.

Alternating lane closures with flaggers are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While delays will generally be limited to 15 minutes, longer delays are possible during peak travel times.

The guardrail repairs are necessary as a result of damage caused by the Telegraph Fire last month.

In addition, full overnight closures of the highway are scheduled the nights of Wednesday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 28.

The road will close to all traffic between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. each night to pour the remaining portions of the bridge deck. The road is scheduled to reopen at 4 a.m. the following morning; however, alternating lane closures with flaggers may be required after 4 a.m., if work extends beyond that hour.

Motorists should proceed with caution, slow down, watch for equipment, and follow the directions of flaggers and law enforcement.
