Tribal Council enacts 8 p.m. curfew for Bylas following murders

BYLAS — The San Carlos Apache Tribal Council approved a temporary curfew for the Bylas area, following a pair of homicides this month.

The council voted 8-0 Friday to approve the curfew, which is in effect until March 29.

The curfew restricts all Bylas residents from outdoor activity from 8 p.m. to 5:20 a.m. daily, with exception for essential activity, such as traveling to and from work.

The curfew also has “zero tolerance for weapons of any kind.”

On March 6, a 20-year-old Bylas man was shot to death near the Bylas Fitness Center, and on March 12, a 42-year-old Bylas man was stabbed to death.

Suspects in both incidents have been taken into custody.
