SAFFORD — Arizona’s replica of the Liberty Bell rang out Monday morning, welcoming all to the Road to 250 Arizona Traveling Museum in front of Safford City Hall.
The free exhibit from the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office was opened with remarks from Safford Mayor Richard Ortega.
“It gives us an opportunity to appreciate and see what that Liberty Bell really stands for, and be thankful for what we have,” Ortega said.

The bell is one of 50 Liberty Bell replicas cast in 1950 — one for each state — to help promote the sale of U.S. Savings Bonds. It normally resides at the State Capitol, located between the state House and state Senate.
The museum includes interactive exhibits and videos, detailing both American and Arizona history.
The traveling museum is in Safford Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will be at the American Legion post in Clifton on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and at the Hoopes Activity Center on the Eastern Arizona College campus in Thatcher on Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
