Transformers spark in two instances

GRAHAM COUNTY — The new year started not with fireworks but sparking transformers.

Graham County Sheriff’s deputies were called out to U.S. Highway 70, between mileposts 345 and 346, at about 4:23 a.m. Dec. 31, to reports of a transformer spitting sparks into the roadway.  When the deputy arrived, there were no sparks, but utilities service crews were called out.

It was the same situation Jan. 2, at about 8 p.m., when calls came in of a transformer sparking in the area of 45th Street and 20th Avenue. Deputies secured the scene until utilities could arrive.

No one was injured in either instance.
