PERIDOT — The Toyo fire on the western edge of Graham County appears to be coming under control.
“The fire perimeter has been contained all the way up to the northwest portion of the fire,” said John Cevantes, Planning Ops trainee with the Southwest Area Incident Management Team. “Crews will continue to monitor some heavy fuels that are smoking on the interior there.”
The fire, which started May 10, grew as large as 1,778 acres and is currently at 90-percet containment.
It was battled by five crews, nine engines, two helicopters and two water tenders.
Southwest Area Incident Management Team said the work to finish off the wildfire is being handed back to the San Carlos Apache Forest Resources Program, effective Thursday at 6 a.m.
