Three Graham, Greenlee students win in Treasurer’s art contest

PHOENIX — Three area youths have been named winners in the Arizona Treasurer’s fifth annual AZ529 Future Art Contest.

Each student receives $529 for a new or existing 529 Education Savings Plan.

Two winners were named in Graham County:

  • Sofia Araya-Medrano, a third grader from Thatcher Elementary, who would like to be a doctor.
  • Amiana Baltierrez, a fifth grader from Bonita Elementary, who would like to be a fashion designer.

From Greenlee County, Jennifer Ceballos, a sixth grader from Fairbanks Middle School, was named a winner for her artwork depicting her as a grown-up special-effects make-up artist.

The winners were honored at a ceremony at the state Capital on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. Each received a check and a certificate from state Treasurer Kimberly Yee.
