SAFFORD — The names of more than two-dozen youngsters are waiting to be selected from Safford’s second annual Angel Tree.

The tree is at the City Annex, on 8th Avenue, and the tags list the gender and age of the child and the child’s interests.

Volunteers can select as many tags as they desire; however, all gifts with the tags must returned to the City Annex no later than Dec. 14. The gifts can be wrapped or unwrapped.

The city is also accepting donations of wrapping paper, unmarked gift tags, gift bags and boxes.

Dec. 14 is also the deadline to return gifts for Pima’s Wish Tree, which is located at Town Hall, on Center Street (Highway 70).

Vice Mayor Sherrill Teeter said about 15 families that could use some help this holiday season have tags on the tree.

For those wishing to help a homebound senior this year, Chap Ministries has a Giving Tree located in the lobby of Jerry’s Restaurant, in Safford.

Those taking a tag are asked to wrap gifts for the seniors and leave the wrapped gift under the tree at the restaurant by Dec. 24. The giver may also include a card with a note, and the gifts and cards will be delivered Christmas day.
