BYLAS — San Carlos Apache Police have taken one suspect into custody following the stabbing death of a 42-year-old man.
The incident occurred in Bylas on Thursday, March 12, at about 7:29 p.m. San Carlos EMS attempted life-saving measures before the victim was transported to San Carlos Apache Healthcare, where he was pronounced dead from multiple stab wounds.
The victim has been identified as Sonny Garcia Sr.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing. San Carlos Criminal Investigations Unit is being assisted by the FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
It’s the second homicide that’s occurred on the reservation this month. On March 6, Tashon Gambler, 20, was shot to death near the Bylas Fitness Center.
A suspect in that killing has also been taken into custody.
