SAFFORD — Due to increased numbers of staff forced to quarantine because of COVID-19, Safford Unified School District announced suspension of a number of school bus routes.

Buses will still operate in the furthermost areas of the school district, specifically areas west of 20th Avenue and east of U.S. Highway 191, and north of U.S. Highway 70 and south of Discovery Park Boulevard.

Parents inside those boundaries will be responsible to transport their children to school starting Thursday, Nov. 19.

Pre-school and special education buses will still continue to pick up and drop off at all scheduled stops, regardless of location.

There is no timetable on when regular bus service will resume.
