SAFFORD — The Safford Unified School District is again offering free meals for children 18 and younger this summer, but there has been a big change.

Unlike past years, when there were a number of outlets where meals could be picked up and/or consumed onsite, the breakfasts and lunches this summer are only available via drive-through at Safford Middle School.

And both breakfast and lunch will be distributed together, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

There is no cost and the meals are available to all children 18 and younger who live in the Gila Valley. Children do not have to be enrolled in a Safford school to receive the free meals.

Meals are also available to adults for a charge of $6.
