SAFFORD — Kat Sticklin, the lynchpin of many activities at the American Legion, including free meals for veterans and the community on Thanksgiving and Christmas, was honored with the Pride of Safford award Thursday.
Sticklin’s nomination said she “works tirelessly at the American Legion as the head of the Auxiliary. She organizes community events, Veteran’s programs, auxiliary training seminars, and food sales at the legion on a regular basis. She is constantly finding ways to have a positive impact on the Veteran’s community, and the Gila Valley in general.”
Sticklin said the accomplishments are the result of everyone in the Auxiliary and at American Legion Swift-Murphy Post 32.
“We are a team,” she said. “We work as a team, we function as a team and we try our best.”
