STEM scholarship available from the LBTO for indigenous students

GRAHAM COUNTY — Native American students interested in studying the sciences in college can get financial help from the telescopes on Mount Graham.

The Large Binocular Telescope Observatory announced a scholarship is available to a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe who is interested in majoring in a science, technology, math or engineering (STEM) field at either Eastern Arizona College, the University of Arizona, Arizona State University or Northern Arizona University.

To qualify, the student must provide junior and senior year transcripts, have letters of recommendation from two STEM teachers, show an acceptance letter to one of the approved colleges or universities, offer a letter of motivation for the field of study, and detail any other financial assistance already received.
