Small-School Football Championships Return to Live TV After 20 Years

For the first time in nearly two decades, small-school football fans across Arizona will be able to see their championship teams play live on television. The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) is expanding its broadcast lineup to include the 2A and 3A football championship games this fall.

With this addition, all six of the AIA’s largest football classifications will have their title matchups televised on Arizona’s Family 3TV and Arizona’s Family Sports, the AIA’s media partners.

“We are excited to continue to elevate opportunities for schools and student-athletes with the addition of the 2A and 3A football championships on Arizona’s Family,” said AIA Executive Director Dr. Jim Dean. “There’s nothing like Arizona high school football, and we’re thrilled that fans across the state can experience the excitement of these championships on TV. All the teams have poured their hearts into this season, and we are excited to celebrate their hard work, passion, and school pride, along with their communities.”

The 2A and 3A championship games are set for Saturday, November 29, at Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee, with kickoff times at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.

A small-school championship media day will also take place Monday, November 24, at the AIA office in Phoenix beginning at 11 a.m. Details about free live streaming options will be released closer to the event.

This expansion marks a big win for small-school programs — and for Arizona football fans who love to see every corner of the state represented under the Friday night (and now Saturday) lights.
