SAFFORD — It will be quite the party at the GFWC Woman’s Club of Safford on Friday afternoon.

In addition to the club’s regular meeting, there will be a pot luck luncheon and a pair of shopping opportunities.

“This year we’re doing a two-part auction,” said club President Brianna Morris. “The first part is the silent auction, a silent purse auction. We’re going to blast it all on social media on Thursday night, and kind of let everybody know what we’ve got; all these beautiful bags full of fun little goodies.”

Interested parties can bid online, which will serve as the starting bid for Friday’s event, or at the club.

Following the meeting, the silent purse auction will close and the live auction will begin.

“I talked to Marge Schade yesterday, and (she said) she started this about 15 years ago,” Morris said. “All of the members would bring in beautiful little items from their home or sitting in storage, something they want to donate to help raise money. So we’re still doing that, bringing in some items and having a live auction, which is really fun.”

Funds raised will help with needed repairs at the clubhouse.

The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. at the clubhouse on Main Street in Safford, across from OneAZ Credit Union.
