Shopping hours set for area seniors

THATCHER – Area supermarkets have announced plans to make shopping for necessities easier for seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bashas’, open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., will offer shopping for seniors 65 and older only from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesdays.

Dollar General has designated 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily for seniors 60 and older.

Thriftee Food and Drug is open for seniors 60 and older only from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Fridays.

Walmart has changed its operating hours from 24 hours to 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. An hour-long senior shopping event will take place each Tuesday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., starting March 24.

Safeway has designated Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., for seniors 65 and older, pregnant women, individuals with underlying onditions/high needs (those with disabilities and/or susceptible immune systems). Others may also shop during those times.
