SAFFORD – Early Thursday morning around 3:00 am, police were called to Walmart regarding a man who had shoplifted items and ran from management and security out of the store. An officer patrolled the area looking for a suspect who matched the description, but one was not located.
The officer then met with management and security who reported they noticed the suspect put a watch in his pocket in the jewelry area and then stuff a pack of t-shirts in his pocket. When management and security confronted the suspect, he denied taking anything. When he was informed police were being called the suspect fled on foot out of the store, dropping the watch and t-shirts while he ran.
At the time of the report, authorities were waiting for a copy of the video of the incident along with a receipt for the stolen items.
