Sheriff’s Office Incident Report – August 31, 2026

Graham County Sheriff’s Office handles 48 incidents, including domestic disturbance, vehicle fire and welfare calls

The Graham County Sheriff’s Office handled 48 reported incidents between Aug. 28 and the morning of Aug. 31, according to the agency’s latest incident report.

One of the more serious incidents occurred Saturday night on Safford Bryce Road when deputies responded to a report that a man involved in a domestic disturbance had returned to a residence carrying a rifle. A family member reportedly took the rifle away from him. Deputies searched the area after the man reportedly left on foot, including with the assistance of a drone, but were unable to locate him.

The incident followed another domestic-related call at the same general location the previous evening. Deputies responded after a caller reported hearing what sounded like a woman being assaulted and locked inside a bathroom. The report indicated two young children were also inside the residence. Deputies entered the home and searched surrounding areas, including a shed and property near horse corrals, but reported no contact with the male subject.

A camper caught fire Sunday afternoon along U.S. 70 near milepost 350. The person reporting the fire was attempting to disconnect the camper from a vehicle, and the initial report indicated there was no propane inside. The fire later spread to the truck, according to the incident log. DPS and other emergency resources were notified.

Deputies also investigated the reported theft of approximately 40 tons of structural steel from property on Klondyke Road. The reporting party said the material had been stolen sometime during the previous four to five weeks.

Several calls involved protective orders and disputes between individuals. In one case, deputies were contacted about a person allegedly violating an active order of protection by returning to a residence. In another, a resident asked about the status of an existing protective order.

The Sheriff’s Office also handled several welfare and assistance calls. One involved a child who had reportedly been going to a nearby residence during the early morning hours asking for food. Another involved an elderly man who lives alone; deputies were asked to check on him after repeated attempts to make contact were unsuccessful.

Other calls included a report of a 12-year-old found with a marijuana vape at a middle school, several animal complaints, juvenile-related incidents, traffic stops, citizen assistance calls, a prowler report and a report of a sparking power line.

The report covers calls beginning shortly after midnight Aug. 28 and continuing through the morning of Aug. 31. The Sheriff’s Office report includes all incident types, locations, dispositions and reported offenses during the period.
