SAFFORD — Vendors sad about the cancellation of the Gila Valley Pride event can turn their frowns to smiles thanks to Sarah’s Bullpen.

Sunshine and Whiskey Entertainment announced that vendors are being invited to set up without a fee, and people spend the day celebrating Sarah’s birthday at Sarah’s Bullpen on June 1.

Set up will start at 9 a.m.

During an appearance on Voice of the Valley Wednesday, Nick Nordgran-Tellez said the cancellation of the Gila Valley Pride event, originally scheduled for June 1 at Graham County Fairgrounds, was due to other commitments by board members.

However, on social media, Gila Valley Pride board members said they were shut out of the planning and organizing of the event, leaving them no say in vendor or ticket pricing, plus there were questions about the financials and whether a special event liquor license had been obtained.

That exclusion, they said, prompted their resignations from the board.
