SAN CARLOS — A suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old Tribal member.
San Carlos Police reported Brandon Hinton, 24, was taken into custody along U.S. Highway 70. He reportedly was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest.
The shooting occurred March 6, near the Bylas Fitness Center. The victim was identified as Tashon Gambler, 20.
San Carlos Police was assisted by the FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the FBI Evidence Response Team is processing the crime scene.
The shooting forced the cancellation of the parade and dinner planned for March 6 for the state champion Fort Thomas Apache boys basketball team.
