SAFFORD — This year’s SalsaFest will have a slightly different look.

The Graham County Chamber of Commerce, organizers of SalsaFest, have proposed a new layout to the City of Safford in its liquor license application for the event.

Vendors will now set up on the Graham County Courthouse lawn, instead of lining the 500 and 600 blocks of Main Street. The move will keep those blocks open to traffic.

“After considering requests from businesses, we are trying this model out,” Vance Bryce, Chamber executive director, said in a text message.

A slight change is having food trucks on the 700 block of Main Street, which will be closed during the event. Some food trucks will also be located in east side of the driveway in front of Safford City Hall, as has been the case during the past few SalsaFest events.

The Safford Lions Club Salsa Tent will remain on the east side of the Firemen’s Park lawn in front of Safford City Hall, with the Budweiser Beer Garden remaining on the west side of the lawn. And the Kempton Chevrolet Stage will remain on the west side of the City Hall driveway.

Bryce said the car show will remain located on the 400 block of Main Street.

“We are looking for volunteers, salsa makers, (and) vendors. You can go to GrahamChamber.org for more information,” said Kristine Ekval with the Chamber.

The 17th SalsaFest, entitled Spicy 17, will take place Sept. 22-23.
