Safford’s Griffith pens new children’s book, signing Saturday

SAFFORD — Don’t worry, Jennifer Griffith fans, she’ll be back to writing her romantic comedy and holiday romance books in short order. But she’s written her latest book with a new audience in mind.

“Actually, it’s because my kids asked me to write. They came up with the idea and said, ‘Will you write it?’ And I thought, sure. I write for other people, why not for my children who I like the most,” Griffith said.

The newest book by the Safford author is entitled “Candy Kingdom Book 1: The Bored Game,” and is targeted at early readers.

“The readership target age is early chapter readers, so the readership age is about 7 to 10,” Griffith said. “It’s for somebody who has a child who loves to read in that age group. It does have some challenging vocabulary, and that was kind of the point. So it’s kind of aimed more for younger readers who have a strong vocabulary.”

“Candy Kingdom Book 1: The Bored Game” is available on Amazon now. And Griffith will hold a book signing this Saturday. The signing will take place at 290 W. Cochise St. in Safford, starting at 10 a.m. She will also have some books available for purchase.
