Safford seeking two new Parks Committee members

SAFFORD — The City of Safford is accepting applications for two open positions on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.

The committee meets once a month, or as needed, to discuss parks-related issues and forward recommendations to the City Council for action.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee took the lead on gathering public input for amenities for the new park under development at 8th Avenue and Discovery Park Boulevard. And it will do the same for the park planned at 14th Avenue and El Paso Boulevard.

The city currently operates nine parks:

  • Central Avenue Play Area — Central Avenue at 3rd Street
  • City of Safford Pool — 1024 W. Main St.
  • Dry Lake Park — 250E 2760W Dry Lake Rd.
  • Ed Ragland Basketball Courts — 8th Avenue
  • Firth Park — 1085 Thatcher Blvd.
  • Glenn Meadows Park — 3001 S. 14th Ave.
  • La Tierra Park — 8th Avenue at 23rd Street
  • Mount Graham Golf Course — 4250 W. Golf Course Rd.
  • Ramada Park — 11th Avenue at Mesa Circle
