SAFFORD — The Safford Planning and Zoning Commission is recommending some changes to how the city conducts business with food trucks.

At its most recent meeting last Monday, the commission recommended changing city code to allow a food truck to set up at a location up to 52 days in a calendar year, up from the current limit of no more than 10 days per location per year.

The commission is also recommending that food trucks be allowed to operate at a location for up to three consecutive days, up from the current rule of no more than 48 consecutive hours.

Finally, the commission is recommending that purchase of conditional use permits be required for each location at which a food truck wishes to set up, and that each of those conditional use permits be good for one year.

The commission’s recommendations will be sent to the City Council for final action at a future meeting.
