Black Rock Road residents return to their homes, Bear fire grows to 15,000 acres

KLONDYKE — The Pinnacle fire is at 60-percent containment, and the last residents evacuated from the area have been allowed to return to their homes.

The fire in the Santa Teresa Wilderness has burned 34,417 acres. While fire activity is slowing, smoke remains a factor on air quality, especially in Greenlee County where the air quality index is classified as moderate.

The Bear fire in Greenlee County is also contributing to that reduced air quality. The fire, about 10 miles south of Hannagan Meadow, has grown to 15,300 acres and is at 0-percent containment.

The fire has closed U.S. Highway 191, between mileposts 175 (north of Morenci) and 250 (south of Alpine).
