SAFFORD — Safford Police found themselves dealing with a pair of situations involving weapons.
On Aug. 12, officers responded to a call of a person wielding a knife. It was found to be the resident, who said he was using a kitchen knife to protect himself from Guy Donham and a female, who were banging on his door and allegedly threatening the resident’s son.
When police confronted Donham, he appeared to discard a silver object from his waistband on his back. First thought to be another knife, it was later discovered to be a 7.65 mm German firearm. Donham reportedly said he brought the gun with for protection.
A portable breath test showed Donham with a blood-alcohol content of 0.232, and he was taken into custody on charges of misconduct involving weapons, being under 21 and carrying a concealed weapon and being under 21 with alcohol in the body.
That same day, during a traffic stop, a passenger was found to be in possession of brass knuckles.
The man, identified as Joe Paul Villalba, admitted to being a prohibited possessor of weapons, due to multiple felony convictions, but reportedly said he only used the brass knuckles as a belt buckle.
The case was forwarded to Graham County Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
