Safford PD makes meth bust at local hotel

SAFFORD — Safford Police arrested a man who reportedly admitted to having an estimated 40 grams of methamphetamine for “personal use.”

Officers were called to a local hotel when housekeeping found a brown paper bag containing two plastic baggies filled with a white crystalline substance and a glass smoking pipe.

Officials with the hotel said the room’s occupant had checked out via phone but he returned to the hotel and attempted to get back in the room.

Identified as Troy Holliday, the man said he thought he booked the room for two days and that’s why he had returned. He reportedly admitted to possessing meth and that he purchased two ounces in Tucson for his use, not to sell. He allegedly said he smokes meth two times a day.

Holliday was taken into custody and booked into Graham County Jail without incident on charges of possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug for sale, transportation of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
