In a Facebook post the Safford Police Department says they have received complaints over the parking and traffic on 10th Street in the area of Ruth Powell School. This area of 10th Street between 12th and 14th Avenues has signage and red zones in place to allow, not only for the safe flow of traffic, but for the residents of the area to have safe ingress and egress, and to protect the children as they cross to and from school.
Safford PD is asking that parents or guardians dropping off or escorting their children to Ruth Powell, park in areas that are not designated “No Parking” zones, or utilize the drop-off zone in the Ruth Powell parking lot.
“We understand that this is the beginning of the school year,” the post reads, “and with time and practice, we can achieve a normal routine that is safe for all.
