PIMA — By a vote of 4-1, with Council member Sherrill Teeter opposed, Dale Rogers was selected as the new mayor of the Town of Pima on Tuesday.

Rogers said he has no specific agenda for his tenure as mayor, but he does have a few items he’d like to see come to fruition under his administration.

“We have started the memorial for our veterans who served in World War II, and I would like to see that completed and finished. Another big thing we have in the town is the expansion of the cemetery, so that’s something we know we need to do and I would like to see that happen,” Rogers said.

“And I guess one other thing; I’m pretty passionate about the youth in our community, and I’d like to see a new soccer field so that we can expand to high school soccer.”

The position of mayor came open following the decision by CB Fletcher to relinquish the post while remaining on the council. Fletcher said when he first was selected mayor in 2016, he would only serve in that role for five years.

After council members Lucas Hoopes and Deborah Barr declined the nomination, the council also unanimously selected Teeter as vice mayor.
