SAFFORD — The first babies of 2024 are here.

On Monday, Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center released the names of the first boy and girl born in 2024, though both waited a day before entering the world.

At 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, Rodney Olsen was born to Cheyenne Benevidez and Dominic Olsen. Rodney weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces.

The first girl of 2024 was delivered at 7:12 a.m. that same day, when Eyerlynn Pearl was born to Cortni Cauthen and Corey Braley. Eyerlynn weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces at birth.

MGRMC provided each set of parents with a basket of items for their newborns.
