THATCHER — Decades of service to his community has earned former Thatcher Mayor Bob Rivera a statewide honor.

The League of Arizona Cities and Towns has conferred a life membership to Rivera.

“Bob was a rare elected officially, always willing to give his time and energy, not only with his local community but to the state as well,” said Tom Belshe, executive director of the league.

“His leadership in the League of Arizona Cities and Towns has had a huge impact on state policy over the last 15 years, ensuring that the municipal voice was heard at the state Legislature. We certainly miss working with him as an elected official, but are very pleased that he will remain part of the League community through his life membership. Bob has truly earned life member distinction.”
