Richard “Pops” Sanchez was born June 11, 1951, in Morenci. He passed away June 30, 2016, with his family by his side. He was 65.
Pops was preceded in death by: his father, Daniel Sanchez; mother, Florence Martinez Sanchez; his sister, Lucy Sanchez; brother, Ruben Sanchez; and niece, Vicki Sanchez.
He is survived by: his son, Rick (Becky) Sanchez; daughter, Valerie Lozano (Bryan Herbert); and daughter, Mahriah Sanchez; along with 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; his brother, Daniel (Karen) Sanchez; sister, Linda Sabin; and several nieces and nephews.
Pops worked hard, played hard and always made sure his family was taken care of because, to him, family was everything. His smile was infectious and his love for the Raiders was endearing. Pops was dad to some and friend to all.
Funeral services for Pops were conducted Friday, July 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at Vining Funeral Home’s “Chapel of the Valley,” where many of his family and friends celebrated his life. Concluding services followed in the Sanchez Cemetery.
