SAFFORD — The Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition announced the grand opening of its newest facility will take place this month.

A ribbon-cutting for the Sunrise Re-entry and Prevention Center will take place Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m.

The facility serves to help those coming out of state or federal prison transition back into society, assisting with obtaining identification and a driver’s license, obtain a job, and assist with substance dependency issues.

It will be the second facility open and operated by the Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition. The House of Hope sober living facility for men was opened in 2021. It assists those coming out of rehab get control of their sobriety.

It was renamed the Marge Schade House of Hope in 2023 for the late Marge Schade, who supported the organization from its inception and donated the land for the facility.

A second sober living facility — the Caring Hearts Sober Living Facility for women — is currently under development next door to the men’s house.

The Sunrise Re-entry and Prevention Center is located in a former private school building in Safford, at 2111 Calle Mesa Verde, off Airport Road.
