SAFFORD – Last Monday, authorities were dispatched to Safford Airport in reference to a possible runaway juvenile being located.
When the officer arrived and spoke with the reporting party, they were informed that the couple is taking care of their grandson. The couple discovered a juvenile female was staying in a camp trailer next to their house and was believed to have been there at least for the past few days. The reporting party wanted authorities to check if the female was a runaway. The man did not believe her mother would let the juvenile come down here by herself. Dispatch informed the officer the juvenile female was a reported runaway on July 11th. The couple was informed of the situation.
The female was turned over to Juvenile Probation and arranged to be transported to Florence. Several efforts to contact the girl’s mother were attempted and eventually the mother returned a call to authorities where they informed her she would need to pick up her daughter in Florence. She stated she had no way to get to Florence and was instructed to contact them to let them know. The juvenile was referred for being incorrigible.
