MOUNT GRAHAM — The Safford Ranger District of the U.S. Forest Service announced work is continuing on repairs on the Arcadia National Recreation Trail.

The 5.1-mile trail between Upper Arcadia Campground and Shannon Campground was damaged by the Frye fire in 2017 that burned more than 48,000 acres of land on Mount Graham and surrounding areas.

With help from a corrections crew from ADOC-Safford Fort Grant Unit, work is being done to stabilize new tread with rock structures, as well as remove hazard trees.

While the trail is currently considered passable, official re-opening won’t occur until the spring.
