BYLAS — Moisture over the holiday weekend proved very beneficial to firefighters at the Bottom fire, about seven miles west of Bylas.

The fire, which had grown to 4,655 acres, is at 94-percent containment as of Monday morning.

The fire burned grass and brush in the dry Gila River bed.

The Bear fire, 25 miles north of Clifton, is at 23,868 acres and 20-percent containment.

Because there has been no increase in containment, U.S. Highway 191 between Morenci and Blue Vista remains closed.
