Raymond L. Castaneda

Raymond L. Castaneda, 67, of Clifton, passed away in Tucson on August 27, 2016. He was born on March 11, 1949 in Morenci to Jose and Sophia Castaneda.

Ray lived in Clifton the majority of his life, attending schools in Clifton and graduating with the class of 1967. He excelled in football and baseball and was an avid NY Yankees fan. After graduating, he went to work for the mine as a heavy equipment operator. In his free time, Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing and just going to the river or spending time with his loving family and friends at get-togethers. Ray was a very giving man and at times was the life of the party. He will be forever missed.

Ray is survived by the love if his life of 16 years, Melodee “Dee”, his two daughters; Tenia Castaneda of Englewood, CO and Tiffany Castaneda of Clifton, his four step-sons; Derrek, Darrin, Joshua and Dallas Johnson, his siblings; Nataliea Magallanes, Armando Castaneda, Millie Castaneda, Sophia Zazueta, Linda Thibodeau and Carol Castaneda, and his 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Sophia, as well as Josephine Ruiz Arturo Castaneda, Eve Merino and Jose Castaneda.

The family would like to thank Casa de la Luz Hospice in Tucson for the love and care they showed for Raymond.

Services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clifton. A viewing will be at 9:00 a.m. and a rosary will be led at 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. and interment will immediately follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
