Rafael Bencomo Perez, age 70, a resident of Pima, entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 12, 2021, at TMC Hospice Peppi’s House in Tucson, following a lengthy illness. Rafael was born on October 19, 1950, in Matachi, Chihuahua, Mexico to Aurora and Felix Perez.
Rafael came to the United States when he was 18 years old and worked in agriculture irrigation until he retired at the age of 67. He was a hard worker and was very dedicated to his job. Even in the Arizona heat, you would find him in the fields everyday so he could provide for his family.
He always joked around and always wanted to go on hunting trips. He loved to talk and have conversations with people. Even in his final days of life, Rafael was optimistic he would get better and get back to his normal life.
Rafael is survived by: his children, Rafael Perez, Jr., Saul Perez, Frank Garcia, Paola Perez and Becky (Seth) Parrish; and 23 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Felix and Aurora Perez; his wife, Celia Perez; and his son, Roy Perez.
A Celebration of Rafael’s Life will be conducted on Monday, June 28, 2021. The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., at St. Augustine’s Cathedral in Tucson. Rafael will have a private burial service in the Pima Cemetery in Pima at a later date.
