Public can offer opinion on the City of Safford

Safford — The City of Safford is once again seeking the public’s input.

Piggy-backing off its ongoing in-person breakfast series focusing on a single topic, the city is conducting an online survey for Gila Valley residents to offer their insights on the workings of the city.

“I think this dove-tails with the effort that we’ve been putting in to remove barriers, to increase conversation, to have some pride in the community, to support the citizens,” said Planning and Community Development Director Jaime Embick, “and it’s an effort to bring all that in together with our beautification signs and the work that we’ve been doing to really support people’s idea of their community, and to have some ownership, some participation and cooperation.”

The survey is not limited to Safford residents only, and the city is asking all Gila Valley residents to take part. The survey asks about the participant’s perception of the city, as well as the best way to describe the city to someone who has never visited.

It’s the second survey released by the city this month. A different survey was e-mailed out to local business owners and operators through the Graham County Chamber of Commerce. Those who took the early survey can also participate in the current survey.

The city is working with Mountain Mojo, a marketing firm based in Flagstaff, to help shape the city’s brand. The survey results will be used as a starting point in that process.
