SAN CARLOS — The San Carlos Apache Forest Resources Program announced Tuesday that planned burns will continue in the Seven Mile area, followed by burns in Lower Peridot.

To date, 458 acres of potential wildland fire fuel has been burned in Gilson Wash, Beverly Hills, Bylas, Seven Mile and Peridot. The goal is to remove 75- to 95-percent of the grass that can cause a wildfire to spread and threaten infrastructure.

While prescribed burns are taking place, no burn permits will be issued to residents.
