SAFFORD — Those taking a morning constitutional should plan for an alternate route starting Monday.

The City of Safford announced the walking path at the intersection of 14th Avenue and Discovery Park Boulevard will be closed while crews work on the reclaimed water line in that area. The walking path will be closed until Friday, Jan. 27.

The line is transporting treated effluent from the city’s wastewater treatment plant to Graham County Fairgrounds, to be used to water soccer and baseball fields.

Using treated effluent to water grassy areas at the fairgrounds will save about 130 million gallons of potable water a year.
