SAFFORD — It will be a busy summer at the Safford City-Graham County Library.

“We’re currently on track for about 71, 72 programs in the six weeks,” said Leslie Talley, assistant Library director.

The Summer Reading Program’s theme this year is “Adventure begins at the Safford Library.” Library patrons can create an account on the Library’s webpage and start logging reading minutes for prizes.

Things kick-off June 3 with a presentation and hands-on activity with collage artist Michael Albert, who uses cereal boxes for his art.

In addition, Talley said the Library will be home to a pair of camps at the Library that require pre-registration, starting May 28, “just because they are camps that have a little bit smaller capacity.”

They are:

  • Food, fun and fitness — for children in grades 4-6 and 7-12, learn to prepare food, learn about nutrition and take part in physical activity. Camp meets June 10, 17 and 24.
  • Money masters — for children in grades 4-6, practice money skills through hands-on games. Camp meets June 3-6.

There are also activities that do not require registration, including a party at the Safford Pool June 13, a magic show by Eric Giliam July 18 at the David M. Player Center for the Arts, an escape room, mini-golf, reading club, craft activities and Harry Potter trivia among others.

All summer reading programs are free and open to the public. A full lineup of programs and calendars can be found at www.saffordlibrary.org.
