PIMA — The Town of Pima is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to beatification.

At Tuesday’s Town Council meeting, Town Manager Vernon Batty debuted the town new Highway Frontage Improvement Program.

“This is specifically (for) anything visual, so it’s designed to help curb-appeal as they’re coming through town,” Batty said.

The town is making available a pool of $10,000 to residential and commercial building and property owners located in town with U.S. Highway 70 frontage. The funds are for improvements to the buildings or property, including:

● Exterior painting

● Landscaping

● Installing/repairing sidewalks and other paving

● Replacing old doors and windows

● Installation or upgrades to signage

● Exterior renovations

All work must be considered permanent; placement of temporary improvements or structures, and new building construction will not be eligible.

A 20-percent match is required of owners of the building or property as a condition of the grant.

Applications are now available at Town Hall. Submitted applications will be reviewed by a committee for final approval and issuance of notice to proceed.

Applications are due no later than May 1, and work on approved projects must start no later than June 1 and be complete no later than April 1, 2024. After the project is complete and inspected by town officials, the applicant will be reimbursed the approved grant amount.
